Irish Times Supports Honduras Coup

Interim Honduran leader for talks

Honduras’s interim President Roberto Micheletti will attend talks today in Costa Rica with ousted President Manuel Zelaya to seek a solution to the crisis caused by last month’s coup, his spokesman said.

‘Interim President’ is exactly how Roberto Micheletti considers himself.

Pretty impressive stuff from Reuters. Even though the US has come out with relatively strong criticism of the golpe de estado, the journalist knows to dismiss the official statement.

“The action taken against Honduran President Mel Zelaya violates the precepts of the Inter-American Democratic Charter, and thus should be condemned by all.”

Amazing how Zelaya is being portrayed as having acted, given that Uribe (with his links to right-wing paramilitaries) gets off scot-free for pursuing exactly the same dumping of the one-term presidency in Colombia.
