O Crowing…

Where I am at the minute, I wake to the sound of Mr Jones by the Counting Crows. And in the late afternoon, the sound of Mr Jones hammers its way through the window.

I asked about it. It turns out that there is a man who lives across the street who has been playing the song in his car for years on end. He rides around with the window down, blasting it out for all to hear, when he leaves for work first thing and when he gets back. No-one (of the two people I spoke with about it, a small sample I’ll admit) has heard him play anything else.

Sick bastard.

Christ, we were just reminiscing about someone’s similar obsession with The Streets of Philadelphia the other day! It wasn’t me! 😉

I have one marvellous memory of Mr. Jones being played on the radio a decade ago as we shot down some road on a baking hot day in an open-top sports car. Good times then, but no way would I want it played with any form of regularity now!

Stumblin’ through a barrio indeed. Somehow, an obsession with Mr Jones is more understandable than one with The Streets of Philadelphia. Playing that non-stop for years on end seems..impossible, since you’d have to kill yourself.
