Sure Isn’t It All About The Children

The Midnight Court performed a valuable and admirably contemporaneous assessment of the annual horror show that is the Late Late Toy Show.

A letter in the Independent expresses some concern at the poor show this year:

I also add that, in my opinion, last Friday’s ‘Late Late Toy Show’ was one of the worst ever. I say this, not alone, because most of the remote-control toys didn’t work in the studio on the night, but also as many of the children featured appeared both poorly rehearsed and disinterested.

Disinterested? I have visions of young scamps ignoring the cornucopia of loathsome contraptions to serve hot whiskeys and mince pies to the audience, or denouncing the entire spectacle and calling for food packages to the poor.

On the other hand, if the children seemed uninterested, it might tell us something about who the show is really about.
