I Willie, Or I Won’tie

Listen to this. Well known singer and peacemaker William McCrea tells a tale about the challenge to the atheists in London in 1883. The atheists were some sort of band of deviants in Victorian Britain, who had a leader, and a whole load of atheist clubs.

It’s a tale of some 5,000 (a handy number of biblical proportions) hard men.

There is one bit in it after 3 minutes that scared the shit clean out of me. Then there’s another bit when the holy ghost breaks loose, like an Irish wolfhound that’s been locked in a closet for a week.

A Life In Cricket Scores

Not being a person with his finger on the pulse of cricketing matters, I saw the ticker-tape notification on the BBC News website announcing ‘Alastair Cook hits 106…’, and for the slightest instant I thought that this referred to Alastair Cooke, and I was surprised both at his longevity and the fact that he was not dead.
