Grasping the Handlebars of Bigotry

Jo has an interesting post about how the word bigotry seems to get more readily associated with Protestants than with Catholics. She is probably right, although I am not clear as to why this may be the case. I think it may have a lot to do with the public persona of a certain native of Armagh. My own perception of the word bigot was altered radically when I learned that the Spanish for moustache was ‘bigote‘. Now, when I hear about bigoted people, I think of men with moustaches.
