Go To Hell, EU

I’m in a go to hell mood today.

You see these European Union – 50 Years Working Together posters plastered up around Dublin? (The definite article is omitted on the English version, but I think it is there on the Irish version.)

I don’t like them. They seem to be part of a propaganda effort to establish a myth of continuity and progress. Looking at them, you could be forgiven for thinking that the European Union -in a form similar to that of the present- had been in existence for 50 years. I guess that this is the intention: you should think that the European Union as it is today has been around for 50 years. (I’m trying to think of some sort of analogue in popular music to illuminate the historical travesty that this constitutes, but to no avail.)

Go to hell, European Union.

Thought For The Day

I hate ‘Thoughts For The Day’. Thoughts are not bowls of Ready Brek.

‘Thoughts For The Day’ would have it that you can’t have any other thoughts during the day.

And the sheer arrogance of them. How do they know what thoughts I need for my day?

Thoughts for the day can go to hell.
