It’s heartbreaking to read about the death of a 15 year old child as a result of a vicious sectarian assault. There is nothing that can be said to alleviate the devastation that this has caused to his family, his friends, his schoolmates, and the community in which he lived. Long after everyone else has moved on, they will still have to live with the desolation and turmoil. I hope that time will dull their pain, and that they will be able to find comfort in happier memories.
No-one wants this. The worst thing that can happen now is for this young boy’s death to divide people even further. The result of that will be more suffering and death. We are all human, and that means far more than who we think we are, or where we live.
